The new energy labeling standard, where energy efficiency is the main focus, provides consumers with clearer and more understandable information, enabling them to make informed decisions about the energy consumption of all products and clearly perceive which option is the most efficient.
In addition, information about sustainable products promotes innovation and investments in developing increasingly energy-efficient products.
The simplification of energy labels for appliances is already a reality that has been achieved by rescaling them, which will no longer include the A+, A++ and A+++ classes that some products have, but will be classified from A to G (from most to least efficient). This reorganization of classifications may mean that products previously marked with the "A+++" category will now fall under the "C" category of the new standard. This does not mean that the product has worsened, but that the new labeling is stricter, and initially, the "A" category will be empty, while very few products will receive a "B" or "C" rating. This has been done to leave room for improvement in the coming years.
In addition, other innovative elements have been introduced that slightly vary their design, such as the inclusion of a QR code in the upper right corner, which can be accessed via any smartphone or tablet and provides more information about the product.
On the other hand, depending on the type of appliance, different pictograms are assigned, which appear at the bottom of the label and are easily interpreted by consumers, highlighting features of the device, such as volume expressed in liters (L), noise measured in decibels (dB), and the noise emission class on a scale from A to D.
These new labels will be reviewed when 30% of products in the EU market receive the highest rating ("A") or when 50% are in the "A" and "B" ranges to ensure their usefulness. This will make room for appliances that will revolutionize domestic technology in the future and properly recognize their innovations.
